A bit delayed, okay really delayed!! Brent and I took our first train ride cross country to reach out destination of Yellowstone!! We started in Chicago Illinois, hoped on a train and went through Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and finally Utah! From Utah, we rented a car a hit the road, driving up through Idaho and ending up in Montana. We took a tour of Yellowstone National Park
, seeing a lot of Bison, moose, elk and even a grizzly bear! While in the park, we got to see Old Faithful erupt! We witnessed every season possible and ate a really good Moose burger! (never thought I would say that!). After our visit to Yellowstone, we started our venture back down and stopped at Grand Teton, where I captured one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen!! (last photo shown). On our way down we drove through Wyoming making stops along the way. Once we reached Utah, we hoped aboard the Amtrak train home.
The train ride, was definitely something we didn’t expect to be as great as it was! We rented a sleeper car (which I would highly recommend). This sleeper car gave us our privacy, included all meals and allowed for us to lay down when we slept! The train ride was two days, so we really got used to the sleeping and eating lifestyle. Eating was great! There was only one car for eating, so you had to eat across from other couples riding the same train. We really got to meet some great people. Some from Australia, England and all over the United States! The love of traveling was truly a common topic! Above all, the viewing car was a big hit. The whole car was a big window, so you could watch the countryside fly past you as the train went from state to state. A lot of flat land until we reached Colorado, when we finally reached the Rockies! The train went through about 16 tunnels as we traveled over and through the mountains. We reached places a person would never reach by road! It was truly breathtaking! If you have never taken a train yet, I highly recommend adding it to your bucket list!! Enjoy some of the photos we snapped and the video we put together!
